The Willamette Water Supply Program’s (WWSP) top priority is providing safe, reliable drinking water. Water storage tanks are a critical piece of the water distribution system, providing extra water during peak water use (for example, in the morning when many of us take showers) and water for fighting fires, even during power outages and other emergencies.
WWSP will construct two large water storage tanks (15 million gallons each), designed to withstand a large earthquake, on property near the Cooper Mountain Nature Park. Construction for the first water storage tank began in March 2022, in conjunction with construction of the Scholls Ferry Road Area Pipeline project. The construction of the second water storage tank is deferred until approximately 2035.
